Bird beak Activity

This week we did a neat activity to learn about animals and their adaptations. The students got to test out how birds use their beaks to gather food. We used a spoon, tweezers and chop-sticks to gather our "food". The kids got a great experience and were able to take their knowledge and create a bird of their own. They chose a beak, head, tail and feet based on what they learned from our experiment. It was a fun week with science!

Our "food", pennies, marbles and toothpicks!

Supplies Needed

We only have one box of Kleenex left! We have no pens or pencils left! So if you have any extra at home or can pick some up the students would really appreciate it! Thanks!

Science and Social Studies Update

We took our ecosystem test today to wrap up our unit. On Monday we will be starting a unit on U.S. government. In third grade students learned all about the three branches of government, so this unit is a really big review for them. We will be looking at how the government formed following the Revolutionary War and the first attempt that was made The Articles of Confederation. Look for homework and opportunities to discuss with your student next week!

Coming Home This Week!

All parents should be seeing several things come home this week. Science spirals and books should be coming home to review information we learned about ecosystems. Students also have a chart/study guide on the elements of non-fiction. Every night they should be completing a worksheet to help review this information. If you have not seen these things please be looking for them!
